A MASSIVE THANK YOU!

Hi everyone,

I can’t believe we’ve raised an amazing £850 for the Cancer Research Winter Run 2026 (UK), across both fundraising pages (yes, the accidental extra one too… oops 😅).

The race was brutal with that nonstop winter rain, but we got it done! No PB this time, but I managed a sub-50 at 49:44. That means Gus takes the sweepstake with his 49:47 guess, well done mate, and thank you for being my top donor too!

Huge thanks to every single one of you for your support and generosity towards such a great cause. I’m now resting the legs… before training starts again for the next one!

Lizzie’s Winter 10KM for Friends, Family & Charlie Hocknull

This winter 10KM run is my first ever charity run, and I’m honestly so excited to be part of something bigger than just race day. It means so much to me, not just because 10KM in February freezing weather is a challenge in itself, but because of the people and memories I’ll be carrying with me every step.

I’m dedicating this run to my Grandpa, Charlie Hocknull, who we lost in 2017. It was a tough loss for our family, and we miss him so much. One of the things that keeps me going is picturing what he’d say if he could see me now, probably something like, “My wee wean all grown up!” 

The last nine years have been a whirlwind. I’ve finished uni, started a full-time job, grown into myself a bit more, and become a woman I’m genuinely proud of. I just know he’d be buzzing to see how far I’ve come. 

Even though he’s not here to say it out loud, I know he’d be cheering me on. I like to think he’ll be smiling down on race day, probably shaking his head at me choosing to run in winter, but proud of me all the same.

So this run is for my Grandpa, for my friends and family who’ve been impacted by cancer, and for anyone out there fighting their own battle.
