In loving memory of Gabriel
Dear Family and Friends,
I am running the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run on February 15th in loving memory of my nephew, Gabriel.
As you may remember, at the tender age of four months, Gabriel was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Rhabdomyosarcoma. Sadly, after a courageous battle fighting the disease, he passed away at just 20 months.
This devastating disease is still one of the most elusive cancers to strike children and young adults. Scientists around the world are pioneering research efforts in the area of Rhabdomyosarcoma, among others, and I remain hopeful that one day soon they find a cure to eradicate Rhabdomyosarcoma and all forms of cancer.
Gabriel faced his cancer with his bright spirit and a smile that would melt your heart. Despite his discomfort , he maintained his sunny disposition throughout his treatment at several London hospitals. His parents - my brother, Robert, and Sister-in-law, Tara - were valiant in their efforts to provide him with optimal treatment, loving care, and every opportunity to maximize joy each day of his young life.
There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of our Angel Gabriel, and the precious impact he made on our lives. His beautiful, warm, tenacious spirit lives on in his younger brother, Noah, who never met his big brother. Our family is grateful for the blessing of his robust health.
I am joined on this race adventure by Chris and four of our wonderful friends: Zeina, Alex, Tana, and Doug. Each of us runs in memory or in honor of people dear to us who have been impacted by cancer. Our team is united in our mission to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.
Thank you for supporting our team. Together we are beating cancer.
In loving memory of:
Gabriel, MaryBeth, Clint, Diane, Robert, Thomas, Michael
In honor of:
Caroline, John, Scarlett
With gratitude 🙏❤️🙏
