Cancer is relentess. But so are we.

SuperHalf series completed in Valencia

It's official: I'm a SuperRunner after completing all six half marathons in the SuperHalf series. Taking on the challenge took me to Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Cardiff, and finally Valencia. In Copenhagen, I came tantalisingly close to breaking the two-hour barrier. So, that remains the goal but it will have to wait until next year. I'm taking a break from long runs while getting in some rest and relaxation.

Back under 5 hours in Chicago Marathon

When I ran my first marathon in Paris two and a half years ago, my only concern was to finish, never mind how long it took. To my surprise, I did it in 4 hours 50 minutes. Ever since, I've never managed to break the five-hour barrier. But Chicago finally saw a change of fortune: back under five hours in a respectable 4:53:08. Maybe I can now get a good for age place in London!

5K personal best in Chicago

The day before the Chicago Marathon, I took part in the Abbott Chicago 5K race and clocked a personal best of 26:03 at that distance. The conditions were perfect: cool, but not too cold, plus fabulous support from the local crowds.

Cardiff Half

Storm Amy threatened to disrupt the Cardiff Half Marathon on 5 October, but the winds died down overnight and the sun came out. Cardiff is the fifth in the SuperHalf series I'm running this year. Just one more to go, in Valencia in late October. Before that, I just have the small matter of the Chicago (full) Marathon to contend with on 12 October!

Copenhagen Half Marathon - Wet, Wet, Wet

The Copenhagen Half Marathon came one week after the Big Half, but the weather couldn't have been more different. While waiting for the start, the heavens opened leaving me feeling like a drowned rat. Once across the start line, though, the weather cleared up and the cool conditions made for a good run, finishing in 2:03:43, much faster than any other race this year.

Hot time at the Big Half

My first big race of the autumn season, when the weather is meant to be more comfortable for running, was the Big Half in London on Sunday 7 September. It turned out to be a very hot affair with the temperature rising to 25 degrees! Nevertheless, I made it in my third fastest time of 2:09:32 and came third (out of 19) in my age category. Great support from the crowds.

I am taking on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026.

Please donate to my page to help me raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and support me as I train for a 10k on 23rd February 2026.

Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.

Thank you for supporting me! Together we are beating cancer.
