Winter Run 2026

My Activity Tracking

54
kms

My target 50 kms

Cancer is relentess. But so are we.

1 Week to go!

Thanks for all the amazing donations! I'll be thinking of this in any tough moments on race day.

Wet and muddy runs this weekend, up to 7.6km on Saturday, and a 3.5 recovery run today. Feeling more confident I'll be able to hit my target of running the whole distance and if I can hold a steady pace ambition is for a 1:05-1:10 time in the race. Just hoping to stay fit and healthy this week!

Week 1 down, 5km PB

First week of full training done! 5km times have been trending down over the past month and feeling more confident, pushed hard in the Parkrun on Saturday and surprised myself with a sub-30 min finish!
Bit behind now on my second week as a result of needing and extra rest day so 2 long runs due before Sunday and T-1 week to the race!
Thanks for all your donations so far!

My First ever 10K!

Until recently, the furthest I'd ever managed to run was a few 5K parkruns. In my efforts to at least make this more consistent to shed some of the dad-bod that's appeared over the past few years, I was hampered last year by a stress fracture on my 3rd metatarsal. I mention this only because despite this, after watching the Hackney Half marathon from the side-lines I decided in the excitement to, perhaps rather ambitiously, set myself the challenge of taking part in it for 2026...

So with the injury setback and needing to significantly improve my fitness levels I laced up my trainers again, noticed my training gear was now a bit more dad-bod revealing than I remember, and kicked off my training at the end of last year. I realised 10K would be a good interim goal and so I've taken the opportunity to also take on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026 on the 15th February.

With it being sponsored by Cancer Research UK, this brought an extra layer of meaning and motivation for me personally, having been directly impacted by cancer myself and also my father who - in no small part thanks to the advances in the sorts of diagnosis and treatment championed by CRUK - despite some difficult moments along the way has been living with a brain tumour for over 20 years.

So if you are able to donate, it would mean a lot to be able to raise some money for Cancer Research UK whilst I take on this personal challenge and in the meantime keep me going on these cold and often wet training miles knowing I am also contributing to such a great cause.

Please check out their website to find out more about their amazing advances in recent years in the diagnosis and treatment of Cancer. Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*, your support can help fund the research that will beat it.

Thank you for supporting me in whatever way you can!
