Winter Run 2026

Cancer is relentess. But so are we.

I survived!!

Despite the weather, the run was AWESOME!!  I felt great and my official time was 1h 10min - 5 minutes faster than my prediction!!  (I think the fact a lot of the last km was downhill helped). Yes it was incredibly wet with non-stop rain and despite my best intentions I did skip the after-party in favour of a hot bath, but the atmosphere was brilliant. So much camaraderie and determination.

Everyone who showed up on the day to support in such unfriendly weather (family, friends, huskies, penguins, yeti, drummers, choirs, bands) deserves a medal themselves - they didn't even have running to keep them warm.

Finally a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored me. Considering my early target was £200, we smashed it - I raised well over £500!! THANK YOU!!

It’s Tomorrow!!!

I’ve been putting it off but I finally sat down and figured out the details for tomorrow. After beautiful sunshine today, it looks like it’s going to be wet and cold tmw. Got my layers ready, just got to track down some gloves….Exciting!!

New trainers

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far!  As proof I am actually doing some training... I have bought some new trainers!  Improving my outfit counts, right?!
On my last run, I passed lots of friendly runners on the South Bank. I couldn't figure out why some people were particularly friendly - until I realised I was running in my cancer research T-shirt. I guess they are training too.

Work to do...

I can't believe it is only one month to the run!!
The furthest I have ever run (as of last week) is about 7.5km. I wasn't totally exhausted at the end (though still bright red) which has got to be a good sign!

What am I doing?

I recently turned 50 and some time just before that, I decided it was time to start getting round to some of the things I’d always wanted to do - one of which was a 10k charity run in London. I do live here after all!

So I signed up for the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026.

I was successfully treated for cancer in 2014 and am grateful to be more than 10 years cancer-free. That is partly due to the type of cancer that I had but also the incredible skill of the team that looked after me and the tools they were able to use. I directly benefited from cancer research.

Please donate to my page to help me raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and wish me luck as I train for the 10k run on 15th February 2026.

Thank you for your support!
