Cancer is relentess. But so are we.

Why I'm running the London Winter Run 2026

I've signed up to run a 10k as a personal challenge as well as to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

First the personal challenge: I've never been a runner (or an exerciser for that matter), and I was actively shamed at school by teachers and peers for my poor fitness. I carried this with me for many years while trying to give fitness a go, but always stumbling at the final hurdles. In November 2025, inspired by my partner Lewis, I gave Couch to 5k a final go and managed to finish it, albeit slowly! I've since started to enjoy running and decided I wanted a bit more of a challenge, so chose the London Winter 10km run as a good opportunity to push myself that little bit further!

Second, the personal connection: In June 2015 I lost my Grandad to cancer, and in December 2025 I lost my Nan, who had battled through two diagnoses of two different cancers during her lifetime. My current placement on my clinical psychology course is also working with young people and families affected by a rare form of cancer. All of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lifetime, whether that be our own experience or witnessing the experiences of those close to us. The more we can do to fund life-saving research to enable earlier detection of cancers and prevent or lessen the suffering of those affected by cancer, the better.

If you have been affected by cancer or want to help fund life saving research, please sponsor me! Thanks for reading, and thanks for donating!

I am taking on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026.

Please donate to my page to help me raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and support me as I train for a 10k on 15th February 2026.

Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.

Thank you for supporting me! Together we are beating cancer.
