Cancer is relentess. But so are we.

Why Every Step Matters

Running 10K for Cancer Research: Why Every Step Matters

In a few weeks, I’ll be lacing up my running shoes and taking on a 10K—not just as a personal challenge, but as a way to support something far bigger than myself: cancer research.

Cancer has touched almost every one of us in some way. A family member, a friend, a colleague, or even ourselves. It doesn’t discriminate, and it doesn’t wait for the “right time.” What it does do is remind us how important research, treatment, and hope truly are.

Why I’m Running

Running a 10K is no small task. It takes training, discipline, early mornings, and pushing through moments when quitting feels easier. But that effort pales in comparison to the daily battles faced by those living with cancer—and the families who support them.

I chose to dedicate this run to a cancer research foundation because research saves lives. Every breakthrough, every new treatment, and every improvement in care begins with funding. Donations fuel the scientists, clinicians, and innovators who work tirelessly to turn hope into measurable progress.

Turning Miles Into Meaning

Each kilometer I run represents resilience. Each step forward is a reminder that progress—no matter how slow—still counts. The 10K distance is symbolic: challenging, uncomfortable at times, but absolutely achievable with support. That’s exactly how cancer research works too. It’s not one giant leap, but many determined steps forward.

When I feel tired during training, I remind myself why I started. When race day comes and the final kilometers feel heavy, I’ll be thinking of the people who don’t get to stop when things get hard.

How You Can Help

You don’t have to run a race to make a difference. Supporting cancer research can take many forms:

  • Donate: Any amount helps fund critical research and brings us closer to better treatments and cures.

  • Share: Spreading the word about this cause helps reach people who may also want to contribute.

  • Encourage: Messages of support mean more than you might realize—not just to me, but to everyone affected by cancer.

If you’re able to contribute, know that your support is directly helping advance research that saves lives. If you can’t donate right now, sharing this story is just as valuable.

More Than a Finish Line

This 10K isn’t about a finish time or a medal. It’s about standing up for something that matters. It’s about using my body, my energy, and my voice to support a cause that affects millions.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of this journey with me. Together, we can help turn effort into impact—and hope into progress.

I am taking on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026.

Please donate to my page to help me raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and support me as I train for a 10k on 15th February 2026.

Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.

Thank you for supporting me! Together we are beating cancer.
