Cancer is relentess. But so are we.

Running again

Why am I doing this?

Cancer is affecting more and more people it seems. If I look back 10 years I can only think of one person I knew who had had cancer, in the last year at least 5 people I know well were diagnosed. There are so many types, breast, prostate, blood, testicular, liver, bowel... maybe the diagnosing is getting better or maybe more people are getting it, I don't know, but any research and help in this area can only be a good thing.

Cancer Research UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner, their world-class research has saved countless lives and is helping to save even more.

Sitting down watching celebrity googlebox earlier in 2025, the episode was dedicated to stand up to cancer. The stories on patients intertwined with the usual goggling had me in tears and I knew I wanted to raise some money to go towards cancer in some way.

6 months ago I couldn't run without pain. Even the most basic running movement ( 1 minute running amongst 5 minute walking) created days of hobbling, unable to apply any pressure to my foot, following a walking/running session I would struggle to stand on my left foot.

Perseverance is one of my stronger traits however, and having followed the most basic "learn to run" plan and the follow-on plan, I am now training for the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2026. This has been an event I have wanted to take part in since I was last running regularly in 2019. This year it's going to happen!
The London Winter Run in February 2026 is my "warm up" event.
I will be running the LLHM for Macmillan Cancer Support and the London Winter Run for Cancer Research UK. I am also still selling hats and headbands through the Hat Project and all of the profits are being added to the MacMillan fundraising page.

If you would like to sponsor me it would give me a massive boost, but more importantly than that, your donation to Cancer Research UK will be going to help the scientists in their life-saving research.

Thank you x

I am taking on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026.

Please donate to my page to help me raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and support me as I train for a 10k on 15th February 2026.

Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.

Thank you for supporting me! Together we are beating cancer.
