My newfound love of running & reasons for fundraising

I hope everyone is doing well (and possibly feeling philanthropic?)!
As some of you might know, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer almost a year ago - definitely not something I was expecting to happen at 25. It came with a lot of uncertainty: genetic tests, what felt like bad result after bad result, surgery and multiple treatments. While I’m not completely out the other side yet (still doing risk assessments and awaiting further tests), things have settled a bit. My mental health, though, has had its ups and downs.
To help with that - and to fill some of my free time now that I’m also CIMA-free (accounting qualification for non-work people) - I have found some new hobbies.
Over the past couple of months, I’ve started both German lessons and running. Fundraising through German might be a bit tricky, so I’ve gone with the more traditional route and signed up for a 10km race in February where I’ll be raising money for Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK is a cause very close to my heart. I’ve seen first-hand how vital research is - not just for treatment, but for giving people hope and options when things feel very uncertain.
I ran my first 5km at a parkrun last weekend (see pic), it was the furthest I’ve ever run... so while it is no marathon 10km is still a real challenge for me. I never saw myself as a runner, but if the last year has taught me anything, it’s that life is full of unexpected turns.
I’d really appreciate any donations!
I am taking on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026.
Please donate to my page to help me raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and support me as I train for a 10k on 15th February 2026.
Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.
Thank you for supporting me! Together we are beating cancer.
