Winter Run 2026

Cancer is relentess. But so are we.

1 week to go

Starting to get nervous now, I’ve got one more training run this week, outdoor in whatever the weather will bring. The forecast for next Sunday doesn’t look good so I need to get used to running in the rain!

First sponsored run!

Why am I doing this run, why now?
Having reached my 50th year I have finally taken up running, this is something I had written off quite a few years ago as impossible for me. But whilst staying with my mum after her cancer diagnosis I started ‘Couch to 5k’ and found running to be a great stress reliever as well as a way to keep fit and strong.

My mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the summer of 2025 and died a few months later aged 75. The disease was cruel and painful and took her from her happy life very quickly. This experience echoed my Dad’s quick death 10yrs ago from the same pancreatic cancer, he died within 7 weeks of diagnosis aged just 65.

This run is a chance for me to join the fight against the hideous march of cancer. My hope is by raising money for Cancer Research we are helping to fund earlier diagnosis of the disease and to help find cures. By sharing my family’s experience I hope to open people’s eyes about the need to stay healthy and do anything within your power to look after your body.

I am taking on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2026.

Please donate to my page to help me raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and support me as I train for a 10k on 15th February 2026.

Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.

Thank you for supporting me! Together we are beating cancer.
