HPV Related Cancers

In June of this year, my dad broke the news: he had been diagnosed with throat cancer. We later found out it was caused by a high-risk strain of HPV - Human Papillomavirus. 

I am therefore participating in the London Winter Run, on 21st February 2027, to raise money for Cancer Research. I’m pushing to raise awareness of these HPV-related cancers, particularly as I was shocked at how little people know about them - and how few people realise there is a vaccine available that can stop high-risk strains from turning into cancer.

I strive to reach out to men in particular. Because the NHS routine vaccine rollout started for girls in 2008 but wasn't extended to boys until 2019, an entire generation of men missed out. They are completely unprotected against high-risk strains that can turn into cancer.

To help others avoid what my dad went through, get vaccinated as soon as possible, and any donation to my fundraiser to help raise awareness and invest in research will be hugely appreciated.

I am taking on the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2027.
